Music maestro A.R. Rahman has been announced as the latest high-profile addition to WAVES 2025, a premier summit focused on shaping India’s media and entertainment landscape. The Oscar and Grammy-winning composer brings decades of musical excellence and global recognition to the event that celebrates stardom and innovation in the creative industry.

The announcement came via the official WAVES 2025 Instagram page, which shared an image featuring Rahman alongside text highlighting his participation. The post emphasizes that the composer joins the summit with “decades of musical brilliance and global acclaim,” positioning him as a significant draw for the upcoming event.

WAVES 2025, described as “a celebration of stardom,” aims to be a transformative platform for India’s media and entertainment sector. The summit appears focused on bringing together influential figures from across the creative industries to drive innovation and growth in the sector.

Interested participants can register for the event through the link provided in the WAVES 2025 Instagram bio. The post also promotes the #CreateInIndiaChallenge, suggesting the summit may include competitive elements or initiatives to boost domestic content creation.

Rahman’s participation adds substantial weight to the WAVES 2025 lineup. He has described the upcoming concerts as “a once-in-a-lifetime” experience featuring renowned artists and “breathtaking production.”  “The journey of Wonderment begins… Join us on an unforgettable journey with shows in Navi Mumbai and across North America,” Rahman posted recently, encouraging fans to secure their tickets early.

Often referred to as the “Mozart of Madras,” A.R. Rahman has transformed the landscape of Indian film music since his breakthrough score for Mani Ratnam’s “Roja” in 1992. His career spans over three decades, during which he has composed for more than 100 films across multiple languages. Beyond his compositional work, Rahman has been actively involved in preserving and promoting Tamil culture. In a recent post written in Tamil (with English translation), he highlighted the importance of maintaining cultural heritage through meaningful communication with younger generations.

His ARR Immersive Entertainment group is developing a digital rendering as a “memorial” for the Tamil language, potentially leading to a physical building in the future. “This effort will hopefully inspire all of us as Tamils. Let’s rejoice in Tamil,” Rahman wrote in Tamil.

The WAVES 2025 summit, with Rahman now among its participants, appears positioned as a significant event for India’s entertainment sector. The focus on “shaping” the media and entertainment landscape suggests discussions on innovation, policy, and growth strategies for these industries.

As both WAVES 2025 and Rahman’s Wonderment Tour approach, fans and industry stakeholders can anticipate significant developments in India’s creative landscape, driven by one of its most distinguished musical ambassadors.
