Veteran television actor Aman Verma recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, sharing memories from his first-ever negative lead role in the 2003 television show ‘Devi’. In his latest Instagram post, the actor revealed interesting details about his character and a surprising connection to a popular Bollywood film.
In the Instagram post, Verma shared a throwback image from the Sony TV show, displaying his character’s distinctive hairstyle. The actor clarified a long-standing misconception about his look in the show, writing: “A lot of people say the look was very similar to #terenaam with @beingsalmankhan as the lead, and the look was a pick up from that.. But this show came 10 years before TERE NAAM.. So we were the originals with this look.”
The image shows Verma sporting the middle-parted, longer hairstyle that later became iconic when Salman Khan adopted it for his 2003 film ‘Tere Naam’. According to Verma’s timeline, his television show predated the film’s release, making his character Vaasu the original trendsetter of this distinctive hairstyle.
‘Devi’ marked an important milestone in Verma’s career as his first negative lead role. The show aired on Sony TV and was produced by Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn along with Meesha Gautam. Verma mentioned that the role pushed him beyond his comfort zone, as the negative character was “physically thrown all over the place” during action sequences.
The series also gave him the opportunity to work alongside notable television actors Sakshi Tanwar and Mohnish Bahl, both established names in the Indian television industry.
Beyond his acting career, Verma’s recent Instagram posts reveal his philosophical side. In one post from a trip to Varanasi’s Assi Ghat, he wrote about the profound impact of the experience: “Life hits u, death is in your face, and the reality of being alive is questioned… What r we living for, what’s the purpose, have u done something for any other living species in your time of being alive on this earth?”
Another thoughtful post explored the concept of fear, where he pondered: “What is our deepest fear… ?? Some say the dark, some say the heights, some say the hollowness and while some say rejection, and some say competition…”
These reflections showcase a depth to the actor beyond his on-screen personas, revealing someone who contemplates life’s bigger questions while maintaining his entertainment career.
As Verma continues to share glimpses of his past work and personal insights, fans get to see both the professional journey and personal evolution of this veteran Indian actor who has successfully navigated the entertainment industry for over two decades.
His throwback to ‘Devi’ not only highlights an important chapter in his career but also establishes a little-known fact about a popular hairstyle that most people associate with Salman Khan’s ‘Tere Naam’ character, when in fact, according to Verma, his character Vaasu sported it first.
