Veteran actor Anupam Kher has unveiled the first look of his upcoming directorial venture ‘Tanvi The Great’, a film that appears to center around a remarkable character who becomes a healer during troubled times. The project, produced under Anupam Kher Studio in association with NFDC (National Film Development Corporation), promises to bring a unique story from the picturesque town of Lansdowne to audiences worldwide.
In his Instagram post sharing the first look, Kher explained the significance of the title character: “‘Tanvi The Great’ isn’t just a name! Tanvi is also a healer in troubled times. And that’s why people in #Lansdowne still remember her.” The post features imagery that introduces viewers to what appears to be the film’s central character.
A Story Of Healing And Hope

This is one such scene I did initially to explain it to #Tanvi in the beautiful landscape of #Lansdowne!”
Stellar Team Behind The Project
The film features an impressive international collaboration with ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Iain Glen joining the cast. While Kher hasn’t revealed specifics about Glen’s role, the Scottish actor is best known for playing Ser Jorah Mormont in the HBO fantasy series.
The technical team brings together award-winning talent, with Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty handling the audio landscape and acclaimed composer MM Keeravaani creating the music. In a previous announcement, Kher revealed that he spent nearly a year working with Keeravaani to record all the songs before filming began.
The musical lineup features an impressive roster of singers including legends Sonu Nigam and Shaan alongside Vishal Mishra, Raj Pandit, Ramya Behara, Nayana Nair, Shagun Sodhi, and Gomathi Iyer. The film also includes an English track performed by Shannon and Dirty Grim from Los Angeles, plus a special performance by Kumudwathi Aparajitha and Keeravaani himself.
This movie marks a significant return to directing for Kher, who previously helmed ‘Om Jai Jagadish’ in 2002. With over four decades in cinema and more than 500 films to his credit, Kher has established himself as one of India’s most versatile actors. His recent work in the critically acclaimed ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Uunchai’ has further cemented his standing in the industry.
The project appears to be a labor of love for Kher, who referred to it as such in one of his posts: “Looking forward to sharing our labour of love with you all soon!” The film is co-produced by Lower Middle Class Corp and features lyrics by Kausar Munir.
