Veteran actor Anupam Kher has announced the world premiere of his directorial venture ‘Tanvi The Great’ at the Cannes Film Festival. The announcement came through Kher’s Instagram account, where he shared the exciting news with his followers.

‘Tanvi The Great’ is set to make its screening debut at the MDF (Marché Du Film) Cannes, marking a significant milestone in Kher’s illustrious career. The actor, who has transitioned to direction with this project, appears to be taking his film on an international journey right from the start. “This is more than a moment, it’s the beginning of a global journey,” mentions the Anupam Kher Studio in the announcement post. The film will not limit its screenings to just Cannes but will travel to other major cities around the world, including London, New York, and Los Angeles. The Instagram post features what appears to be a promotional poster for the film, highlighting its premiere status at the prestigious film festival. The image showcases the film’s global ambitions as it prepares to represent Indian cinema on the world stage.

IMPRESSIVE ENSEMBLE OF TALENT

‘Tanvi The Great’ boasts an impressive international cast and crew. The film stars Iain Glen, best known for his role as Jorah Mormont in ‘Game of Thrones,’ alongside Kher himself. The technical team includes Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty and acclaimed music composer M.M. Keeravaani, who won an Oscar for his work on ‘RRR.’ The project also features contributions from writer Kausar Munir, actress Kruti Mahesh, and cinematographer Keiko Nakahara, among others. This collaboration of talent from different parts of the world underscores the film’s international appeal. In a previous post, Kher had revealed that he co-wrote the screenplay with Ankur Suman and Abhishek Dixit, describing the writing process as “A journey of discussions, arguments, silences, long walks, traveling to different cities, staying in different hotel rooms, hiking, playing games, and singing songs!” He mentioned that it took them more than a year of togetherness to write the screenplay.

PERSONAL CONNECTION TO THE PROJECT

The film seems to hold deep personal significance for Kher. In another Instagram post, he shared that he had shown the teaser of ‘Tanvi The Great’ to his mother, Dulari, who was impressed with the concept of a film centered around a single girl’s story. “A story about a lone girl is rarely seen these days,” his mother reportedly commented, expressing confidence in the film’s potential success. Kher has been actively sharing glimpses of his journey with ‘Tanvi The Great’ on social media. In one post, he wrote, “The only SAFE thing is to take a CHANCE!” alongside a photo of himself on set, suggesting the personal risks and creative challenges involved in making this film. On the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Kher visited the Siddhivinayak Temple to seek blessings for his film. “We have completed our work with great dedication and hard work. Now Lord Ganesha and Lord Hanuman will bless us!” he wrote, demonstrating his spiritual connection to the project.
