Netflix has officially released Chhava, one of the year’s most anticipated historical dramas, which is now streaming globally. In a recent Instagram post, Netflix India announced, “Aale aale Maharaj aale!! Chhaava is now roaring the loudest on Netflix.” What sets the post apart is the stunning rangoli created by artist Shikha Sharma, who masterfully recreates the movie’s poster in vibrant, intricate detail. This new release is available in Hindi and Telugu, inviting audiences to experience a film that promises a blend of dramatic visual storytelling and engaging narrative pulses. After a successful theatrical run, Chhava now brings its gripping narrative and cinematic grandeur to digital audiences. The film explores Sambhaji’s fierce battles against the Mughal empire, his sharp intellect, and his unwavering loyalty to Swarajya.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the fearless Maratha warrior and son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Chhava delves deep into the complex life of Sambhaji Maharaj, highlighting his struggles against the Mughal empire, his intellectual brilliance, and his fierce loyalty to his father’s vision of Swarajya (self-rule). Vicky Kaushal’s transformation into the fearless and philosophical warrior has garnered praise, with many calling it one of his most intense performances to date. Opposite him, Rashmika Mandanna plays the role of Yesubai, Sambhaji’s wife, bringing emotional depth to the film as she portrays the personal sacrifices endured during times of political unrest.

Laxman Utekar’s direction, paired with strong cinematography and a hauntingly beautiful musical score, has elevated Chhava beyond a traditional historical epic. From majestic forts and battlefields to intimate palace scenes, the film offers a visual spectacle without compromising on narrative nuance.

Within hours of its digital release, Chhava began trending across social media platforms, with viewers applauding its authenticity, emotional resonance, and performances. Historians and cultural experts have also commended the film’s attention to detail and commitment to staying true to Maratha heritage.
