Mouni Roy has officially confirmed the release date for her upcoming horror film ‘The Bhootnii,’ which will hit theaters on May 1, 2025. The actress shared the news through an intriguing poster on Instagram, featuring a creepy supernatural theme.
The post features a stylized illustration of a woman, rsembling Roy, set against a forest backdrop, paired with the tagline: “Mohabbat: Pyaar ya Pralay?” with the tagline “Bhootnii ka stamp toh lag gaya and now the chaos is inescapable!” suggesting that once marked by the supernatural entity, there’s no escaping its wrath.
‘The Bhootnii’ boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Sanjay Dutt alongside Mouni Roy. The film also stars Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, Aasif Khan, Nikunj Lotia, and Sidhaant Sachdev among others.
The production is backed by several prominent names in the industry including Deepak Mukut, Maanayata Dutt, and Hunar Mukut. The musical elements of the film are being handled by JAM8 and ICONYK, with lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed. Zee Music Company will distribute the soundtrack.
This announcement comes shortly after a previous post from Mouni Roy’s Instagram account that revealed a change in the film’s release schedule. Initially planned for an April 18, 2025 release, the makers have pushed the date to May 1, 2025.
The earlier post contained a cryptic message: “Insaan mohabbat wali date fix kar sakta hai, bhootnii ke aane ki nahi… woh kab aayegi, kaise aayegi, yeh sirf wahi jaanti hai!” (A person can fix a date for love, but not for when a ghost will come… when she will come, how she will come, only she knows!)
The team has been actively promoting the film, with another recent post announcing the upcoming release of a song titled “Mahakaal Mahakaali.” The track appears to be themed around divine powers awakening “in fury and fire,” suggesting the film will incorporate elements of Indian mythology alongside its horror components.
‘The Bhootnii’ joins the growing trend of supernatural horror films in Indian cinema that blend traditional folklore with modern storytelling techniques. The horror genre has seen a resurgence in recent years, with movies exploring various supernatural concepts rooted in Indian mythology and cultural beliefs.
With the film set to release in May 2025, fans can expect more teasers, posters, and music releases in the coming days as the promotional campaign builds momentum for this supernatural horror offering.
The collaboration between established stars like Sanjay Dutt and Mouni Roy, along with newer talents, suggests that ‘The Bhootnii’ aims to appeal to a wide audience while delivering the scares and supernatural elements that horror enthusiasts crave.
