Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta recently took to Instagram to celebrate her long-awaited reunion with star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, sharing a nostalgic post that chronicles their 16-year professional relationship.
In a heartfelt post captioned “How it started vs how it’s going,” Zinta shared two images side by side. The first shows a much younger Preity with a fresh-faced Yuzvendra Chahal, while the second captures them together in the present day, both sporting Punjab Kings colors.
Zinta revealed that she first met Chahal during the Kings Cup in 2008/09 in Chandigarh when she was “new to cricket” and he was a “young under 19 cricketer.” Over the years, she watched him develop into what she describes as “a force to reckon with in the cricket world.”
“I loved his competitive attitude & always wanted him in our team but somehow the stars never aligned… until now!” Zinta wrote, expressing her joy at finally having the leg-spinner join Punjab Kings.
The actress specifically highlighted Chahal’s recent performance, stating, “Our last game was a great example of why I was such a fan of Yuzi over the years & how, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.”
She concluded her post with a warm message to Chahal: “I’m so happy to finally have you back where you belong @yuzi_chahal23 Always wanna see you smiling & shining.”
Chahal, one of India’s premier leg-spinners, joined Punjab Kings after spending several seasons with Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore before that. Known for his wicket-taking ability in the middle overs, Chahal has been a consistent performer in the IPL.
The spinner’s addition to Punjab Kings appears to be part of the franchise’s renewed strategy under new leadership, with Ricky Ponting as head coach and Shreyas Iyer as captain for IPL 2025.
As Punjab Kings continue their IPL 2025 campaign, fans can expect to see more of Zinta’s passionate support for her team and the players she has followed throughout their careers, particularly Yuzvendra Chahal, whose journey with her has now come full circle.
