Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt has confirmed that his upcoming horror film ‘The Bhootnii’ has received a new release date. The film, which was originally scheduled to release on April 18, 2025, will now hit theaters on May 1, 2025.
Dutt shared the announcement on Instagram with a post captioned: “Bhootnii ka stamp toh lag gaya and now the chaos is inescapable!” The post confirms the new release date for the supernatural horror film that has been generating buzz with its promotional material.

The Release Date Shuffle
Earlier posts from Dutt’s Instagram indicate that the film was initially scheduled for an April 18, 2025 release, coinciding with Good Friday. In a previous post, Dutt had shared: “Insaan mohabbat wali date fix kar sakta hai, bhootnii ke aane ki nahi… woh kab aayegi, kaise aayegi, yeh sirf wahi jaanti hai!” (A person can fix a date for love, but not for when a ghost will come… when she’ll come, how she’ll come, only she knows!)
The post had explained the date change: “Laga tha 18th April ko aayegi lekin ab aa rahi hai 1st May ko, taiyaar rehna!” (We thought she would come on April 18th, but now she’s coming on May 1st, be ready!)

‘The Bhootnii’ features an impressive ensemble cast alongside Sanjay Dutt. The film stars Mouni Roy, Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, Nick, and Aasif Khan.
The production team includes producers Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt. The film is being produced under the banners of Soham Rockstar Entertainment and Three Dimension Motion Pictures.
Horror With A Blend Of Action And Comedy
Based on the promotional materials shared earlier, ‘The Bhootnii’ appears to be a horror film with elements of action and comedy. A post from March described the film as bringing “horror, action, and comedy like never before!”
The film’s trailer was released in late March, with Dutt sharing: “Machega taandav, hoga bawal! Mohabbat ke iss khaufnaak khel mein, Baba lagayenge sabki waat!” (There will be chaos and uproar! In this terrifying game of love, Baba will fix everyone’s problems!)
More recently, the team released a song titled “Mahakaal Mahakaali” from the film. Promotional posts described it as “The divine has descended. Feel the wrath, the rhythm, the roar.”
