In a candid SCREEN exclusive interview, actress and singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi reflected on the stark contrast between her own humble beginnings in the entertainment industry and the relatively privileged position her daughter Kaveri Kapur enjoys today.

“I came from nowhere when I started…,” Krishnamoorthi revealed in the interview clip shared on SCREEN’s Instagram. The multifaceted artist emphasized how the industry landscape has transformed significantly since her early days, becoming much more organized and offering wider opportunities for emerging talents.

Krishnamoorthi, who gained prominence in the 1990s with her role in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa” and through her music career, acknowledged the advantages her daughter has by virtue of being born to industry parents. She pointed out that Kaveri has the protection of her parents’ name and easier access to opportunities that weren’t available to artists of her generation.

Kaveri Kapur, daughter of Suchitra and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, has been making her own mark in the entertainment world, particularly in music. The young artist has been open about her personal struggles as well, with Krishnamoorthi recently reposting content about Kaveri’s journey with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), calling her daughter’s openness “a beacon of hope for others.”

Her willingness to speak openly about industry challenges, from her early struggles to current observations, provides valuable insight into Bollywood’s evolution over the decades and the changing dynamics for newcomers entering the field.
