Actress Aakanksha Singh has shared a glimpse of her traditional avatar with fans, describing herself as an “Old soul” in her latest Instagram post. The short video shows the actress in what appears to be a look from her upcoming Telugu film ‘Shashtipoorthi,’ as suggested by the hashtag #shashtipoorthi, where she plays a character named Janaki.
In the Instagram post, Singh is seen wearing traditional attire, a green saree, with background music featuring Kishore Kumar’s hit song ‘Khwab Ho Tum Ya Koi Haqeeqat.’ The post also highlights her connection to Telugu culture, with the hashtags #teluguammayi (Telugu girl) and #hyderabad accompanying the post. The actress’s traditional ensemble showcases her embracing the cultural aesthetic required for her role in the film.
This latest post follows her earlier reveal, where she introduced fans to her character Janaki for the ‘Shashtipoorthi’ teaser launch. In that post, she wrote, “Your JANAKI For #shashtipoorthi Teaser launch,” and asked fans in Telugu, “Miru film kosam excited ga unnara??” (Are you excited for the film?)
The film ‘Shashtipoorthi’ has been making waves with its recent musical releases. Just days ago, the film team announced the release of “Iru Kanulu Kanulu,” a melody composed by legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja. The song features vocals by SPB Charan and Vibhavari Joshi, with lyrics by Rahman.
The traditional role in ‘Shashtipoorthi’ marks a significant shift for Singh, who was recently seen in the Netflix crime thriller “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.” This aligns with Aakanksha’s career trajectory, which shows her comfort with diverse roles across languages and genres. Singh began her career in television with the show “Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha” before transitioning to films. Her filmography includes projects in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
As ‘Shashtipoorthi’ continues its promotional activities ahead of release, fans can expect to see more glimpses of Singh’s traditional avatar as Janaki, alongside updates about the film that also stars Rajendra Prasad and Archana in significant roles.
With her ability to transition between intense roles like in “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” and traditional characters in films like ‘Shashtipoorthi,’ Singh continues to demonstrate her range as a performer across the Indian film industry.
