Soha Ali Khan has revealed that portraying the menacing character of Daasi Maa in the horror film ‘Chhorii 2’ pushed her far beyond her comfort zone, making it one of the most challenging roles of her career.

In a recent Instagram post, Khan shared her experience of embodying the terrifying antagonist in the Prime Video horror sequel. “She scared me before she scared you! Becoming Daasi Maa was one of the most challenging roles of my life and way out of my comfort zone…and I loved every terrifying second of it!” wrote the actress alongside a chilling image of herself in character.

The image shows Khan in her Daasi Maa avatar – an unrecognizable transformation with haunting makeup, disheveled hair, and a menacing expression that embodies the character’s terrifying presence in the film.

Stepping Into Darkness

‘Chhorii 2′, now streaming on Prime Video, continues the supernatural horror narrative that began with the first installment. The film, produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, has been making waves since its release, with Khan’s performance as Daasi Maa receiving particular attention.

The sequel stars Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead role, with Khan joining the cast as the sinister Daasi Maa – a character that has left an impression on viewers. In another recent post promoting the film, Khan described her performance as one “that gave us chills.”

Industry insiders note that this role marks a significant departure from Khan’s previous work, showcasing her versatility as an actress willing to take on challenging and unconventional characters.

A Horror Hit

The film appears to be performing well on the streaming platform. In a post shared just a few days ago, Khan celebrated the film’s success: “Fear found a new home – thank you for streaming us to the top! #Chhorii2OnPrime #Trending – Watch Now!”

Director Vishal Furia’s horror sequel has clearly resonated with audiences, with Khan’s transformation into Daasi Maa being one of the most talked-about elements of the film.

Beyond The Screen

When not entertaining audiences as Daasi Maa, Khan maintains an active presence on social media, sharing glimpses of her personal and professional life. She recently posted about her fitness routine with the caption: “Lift, sweat, repeat… no retreat!! (I tried – to hide).”

The actress has also been involved in social initiatives, recently participating in P&G India’s #EraseTheLearningGap campaign, where she shared her personal experiences as a mother and advocated for better understanding of children’s learning processes.

Before entering the film industry, Khan worked in banking and finance. Her acting career began with the English language film ‘Iti Srikanta’ (2004), followed by her Hindi film debut in ‘Dil Maange More’ (2004). Her notable performances include roles in critically acclaimed films like ‘Rang De Basanti’ (2006), ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ (2007), and ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ (2008).

With ‘Chhorii 2’, Khan has demonstrated her willingness to take on roles that challenge her as an actress and surprise her audience – proving that after nearly two decades in the industry, she continues to evolve and expand her repertoire.

The horror sequel ‘Chhorii 2’ is now streaming on Prime Video, giving audiences the chance to witness Khan’s transformation into the terrifying Daasi Maa that she describes as both challenging and rewarding.
