Intricate verses evoke rain, longing, lost romance, and timeless memories with fervor!!!!

By Jehangir Irroni

On a drizzly evening when the rain belies deep memories, Manhar Seth’s latest poetic post stirs emotions and invites us to reflect on the inescapable march of time. In his post, written in Hindi, he describes watching the ticking hands of a clock in his room, evoking memories of a past love that refused to move forward with time. This piece, rich with symbolism and wistful nostalgia, transforms the mundane ticking of a clock into the aria of a lost romance.

A Rainy Evening Of Reflections

Manhar begins his verse with an intimate observation: “Baarish mein bheetgi hui ek shyaam mein apne kamre leta hua main Diwar pe latki hui ghadi ki suiyo ko dekh raha hu.” Translated, he says, “On a rainy, dark evening, I sat in my room watching the clock’s hands hanging on the wall.” This line not only sets the stage with its atmospheric details but also establishes the clock as a metaphor for the ephemeral nature of love. The clock, with its inexorable movement, symbolizes how time flows on regardless of our desires or emotional stasis.

The poet continues by discussing the minute and the second hands as representations of two people in love. In his metaphor, one was the minute hand and the other the second, each chasing the other relentlessly. He recounts how they would race through the day together, sometimes one making an effort to join the other, and occasionally resting on the other’s shoulders for comfort—brief moments of solace before the clock struck 12 and, with it, his own unfulfilled yearnings. “Jab bhi 12 bajte the, toh mere armaano ke bhi 12 bajte the,” he writes, implying that the resonance between their hearts was in sync with the clock’s strike of midnight. Through these lines, Manhar conveys a feeling that love, like the relentless tick of time, waits for no one.

The Timeless Metaphor Of Love

Throughout the poem, Manhar reflects on the inherent impermanence of moments and relationships. He muses that while a clock can eventually stop, time never does. He laments, “Hamara ishq ghadi jaisa nahi tha. Hamara ishq waqt jaisa tha,”—”Our love wasn’t like a clock; our love was like time.” His words suggest that while the orderly progression of a clock may pause or be manipulated, time’s flow remains relentless, much like the unyielding progression of life after a breakup. The poignant admission, “Tu ghadi thi main tujhe rok nahi paya, Main woh waqt tha jo tu rakh nahi paayi,” underlines a heartache born from the inability to hold back time or preserve a fleeting moment of togetherness.

This creative piece is a meditation on missed opportunities, the pain of unreciprocated progress, and the inescapable momentum of life. Manhar’s choice to depict himself as the ever-moving ‘time’ and his beloved as the halted ‘clock’ encapsulates a relationship where one party moves forward while the other remains frozen in memory. There is a stark, bittersweet irony in comparing a human relationship to a mechanical device – one that is precise, measured, and indifferent to the changing tides of emotion.

A Visual Journey Through Poetry

Accompanying his verse are striking images shared via Instagram by collaborators @kavyakumbh_official and @chai_govindam. The visuals capture subtle details – a clock suspended on a wall, the gentle patter of rain outside, and the dim light of a room that stands as a silent witness to cherished yet elusive moments. These images not only enhance the textual narrative but also provide a sensory backdrop that deepens the reader’s immersion in the melancholic mood of the piece.

The post reverberates with poetic integrity. In one of the most memorable couplets, Manhar contemplates the nature of their relationship with the lines: “Par poori zindigi main sirf ye baat nahi samajh paaya. Ki main agar minute tha aur tum second, Toh ishq toh ghanta hi hona tha na.” He enigmatically suggests that if he was the minute and she the second, perhaps their love was never meant to be lasting – a transient moment rather than an enduring force.

Beyond The Verse: The Man Behind The Words

Known for his engaging presence both on stage and across social media, Manhar Seth’s foray into poetic expression is not just an artistic display but also a window into the emotional landscape that shapes his creative identity. His work has often blurred the lines between humor, introspection, and performance art, making him a unique voice among today’s celebrity storytellers. Earlier Instagram posts hint at his versatility – from sharing snippets of his Canada tour to engaging in witty banter with fellow artists. However, this poetic rumination stands apart, inviting his audience to pause and reflect on life’s fleeting instants.

Through his imagery of a clock and the flow of time, Manhar reminds us that while moments of connection are precious, they are often as delicate and transient as the gears of a clock in constant motion. This piece speaks directly to anyone who has ever felt the weight of memories in quiet solitude, melding the personal with the universal in a narrative that is both intimate and expansive.

In the end, the artful blend of Hindi and English, the delicate cadence of the verses, and the striking visuals converge to tell a story about embracing change and the inevitability of time. Manhar Seth’s reflective post stands as a quiet yet compelling reminder that love, like time, always marches on—even when our hearts wish to linger in one unchanging moment.

As the rain continues its gentle downpour outside, the ticking clock reminds us that every second counts, urging us all to cherish the memories that shape our lives.
