Acclaimed filmmaker Siddharth Anand has officially announced the release date for his upcoming heist thriller ‘Jewel Thief’ with a celebratory post on Instagram. The film, starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role, is set to premiere on Netflix on April 25.

In his Instagram post, Anand shared an exciting poster featuring the film’s title and tagline “A blockbuster is coming your way.” The caption read, “Badhai ho, aap ke ghar blockbuster hua hai 🍿💥 Watch Jewel Thief, out 25 April, only on Netflix.” The image shows what appears to be promotional artwork for the film with a dramatic visual treatment.

Star-studded Ensemble Cast

The film boasts an impressive lineup of talent alongside Saif Ali Khan. The cast includes critically acclaimed actor Jaideep Ahlawat, known for his powerful performances in series like ‘Paatal Lok’ and films such as ‘Raazi.’ Also joining the roster are Nikita Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, veteran actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Gagan Arora, and Sumit Gulati.

The creative team behind the project includes director Robbie Grewal, with Siddharth Anand serving as producer along with his wife Mamta Anand through their production banner Marflix Pictures.

Based on earlier promotional posts from the film’s social media accounts, ‘Jewel Thief’ appears to be a high-octane heist thriller. Previous teasers described the film with taglines like “Danger. Deception. Desire. And a diamond that’s worth everything 💎🔥” and “The art of the perfect heist comes with a dangerous price 🔥💎.”

The film seems to revolve around a diamond heist with significant stakes for all involved. The promotional campaign has been building steadily with various teasers highlighting the film’s blend of action, suspense, and glamour.

Adding to the pre-release buzz, the film’s first track titled “Jaadu” has already been released across music platforms. Described as “addictive” in promotional posts, the disco-inspired number features choreography by Piyush Bhagat and Shazia Samji. The upbeat track appears to be gaining traction with fans, with Netflix India encouraging viewers to create their own reels to the song.

Siddharth Anand’s Directorial Journey

This project marks another significant addition to Siddharth Anand’s filmography. The filmmaker has established himself as one of Bollywood’s premier directors of stylish action entertainers. According to his Wikipedia profile, Anand made his directorial debut with ‘Salaam Namaste’ (2005) and has since delivered successful films like ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ (2007), ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ (2008), and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ (2010).

In recent years, Anand has focused on high-budget action spectacles, directing ‘Bang Bang!’ (2014), ‘War’ (2019), and most recently, the blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ (2023) starring Shah Rukh Khan, which became one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever. His most recent directorial venture was ‘Fighter’ (2024) featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.

With ‘Jewel Thief,’ Anand continues his association with the action-thriller genre but this time as a producer rather than director, with Robbie Grewal taking the helm.

Netflix Partnership

‘Jewel Thief’ represents another major Indian original film for streaming giant Netflix, which has been expanding its slate of premium Indian content. The platform has been increasingly focusing on bringing star-driven Indian films directly to its global audience.

The film joins a growing number of high-profile Bollywood releases opting for direct-to-digital premieres, a trend that gained significant momentum during the pandemic and continues to be a viable release strategy for certain types of films.

As the April 25 release date approaches, fans of Saif Ali Khan and thriller enthusiasts have much to look forward to with what promises to be an engaging heist drama featuring a talented ensemble cast under the production banner of one of India’s most commercially successful filmmakers.

The teaser poster and announcement suggest confidence in the project’s appeal, with Anand’s “blockbuster” proclamation setting high expectations for this Netflix original.
