Filmmaker and activist Ashoke Pandit has strongly condemned a reported terror attack on Hindu tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in a post shared on his Instagram account. Pandit’s caption contains strong condemnation of the violence and calls for significant political action.

A Targeted Attack Based On Religious Identity

In his Instagram post, Pandit describes a disturbing scenario where “Identity cards of tourists in Pahalgam were checked and after confirming that they were Hindus, bullets were showered on them.” The filmmaker draws parallels between this incident and previous terror attacks in the region, specifically mentioning the Pulwama attack, Chatti Singhpura massacre, and Nadimarg massacre.

Calls For Political Action And Accountability

Pandit has made several pointed demands in response to the attack. He called for the imposition of President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir and urged military action against Pakistan, going as far as to state that “That country shouldn’t exist.”

He also expressed solidarity with the victims’ families, writing, “My heart goes out to the families of all those who have lost their dear ones. Wishing all those injured a speedy recovery.” Additionally, Pandit called on Kashmir’s residents to “come out on the streets of the valley and openly hold Pakistan accountable for this massacre.”

Recent Activism And Statements

This is not the first time Pandit has spoken out on contentious issues. He has also recently commented on natural disasters in the region, sharing information about flash floods and heavy rains in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the safety concerns and casualties resulting from these events.

The filmmaker has frequently used his platform to speak out against terrorism in Kashmir and has been a strong advocate for the rights of Kashmiri Pandits, a Hindu community that faced mass exodus from the Kashmir Valley in the early 1990s due to rising militancy.

Ashoke Pandit’s post stands as a passionate plea for justice and accountability in the face of recurring violence in Jammu and Kashmir. His statements resonate with many who are calling for stronger measures to protect civilians and ensure long-term peace in the region. As tensions remain high and investigations continue, the incident once again underscores the need for unified action against terrorism and a renewed focus on the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of their identity.
