Taking to Instagram, Johar shared the exciting news with his followers, expressing profound admiration for the collaboration. “Homebound is an extraordinary confluence of talent, vision, and storytelling at its finest,” wrote the Dharma Productions head. “Having Martin Scorsese, a true legend of cinema, lend his wisdom and support to Neeraj’s remarkable vision elevates our film to a rare artistic height.”

The post featured two images showcasing the collaboration. The first image appears to be an official announcement poster for the film, while the second shows what looks to be representatives from the production team alongside the acclaimed filmmakers.

Johar’s enthusiasm was palpable as he highlighted the significance of having Scorsese, one of cinema’s most revered directors, involved with the project. This partnership marks a remarkable milestone for Indian cinema, bringing together one of Hollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers with one of India’s most promising directors.

‘Homebound’ has been selected to screen at the Cannes Film Festival, marking a significant achievement for the production house. This selection represents a dream come true for Johar, who had previously expressed his long-held aspiration to have one of his films reach this esteemed platform.

In an earlier Instagram post announcing the Cannes selection, Johar had written: “I will not deny that I always wished for one of our films to reach this prestigious global platform. And here we are!”

The film features a talented ensemble cast including Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. Johar emphasized that with this “incredibly gifted cast and the prestigious stage of Cannes,” the team looks forward to sharing ‘Homebound’s’ powerful story with audiences worldwide.

For director Neeraj Ghaywan, this marks his second journey to Cannes. Ghaywan previously made waves at the festival with his critically acclaimed debut feature film ‘Masaan’ (2015), which won two awards at Cannes – the FIPRESCI Prize and the Prix de l’Avenir in the Un Certain Regard section.

In his earlier post about the Cannes selection, Johar had praised Ghaywan as “a true visionary” and “a beacon of hope for emerging filmmakers,” predicting that the director would become “a frequent visitor of Cannes.”

‘Homebound’ is part of an active production schedule for Johar’s Dharma Productions. The company recently released ‘Kesari Chapter 2,’ starring Akshay Kumar, Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, which Johar has been actively promoting on social media.

The production house has also announced another major project titled ‘NaagZilla,’ featuring Kartik Aaryan, scheduled for release on August 14, 2026. Johar shared the announcement with the tagline “Naag lok ka pehla kaand” (The first episode from the snake world), indicating an ambitious fantasy project in the works.

As Johar noted in his announcement of the Cannes selection, this achievement is “not just a win for our film industry, but a beacon of hope for emerging filmmakers, inspiring them to push boundaries and share their voices, rooted in our land.”

With Scorsese’s involvement and the Cannes platform, ‘Homebound’ is positioned to showcase Indian cinema’s evolving artistic vision to a worldwide audience, potentially opening doors for more international collaborations in the future.

The film’s premiere date at Cannes has not yet been announced, but cinema enthusiasts worldwide will be eagerly awaiting this significant cultural exchange between two distinct filmmaking traditions.
