Renowned singer and cultural advocate Sona Mohapatra has taken to Instagram with a powerful message calling for intellectual honesty and clear thinking. In her recent post, she expressed deep anger and heartbreak over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and urged society to confront harmful ideologies with clarity and courage.

Calling Out Misleading Narratives

“Everyone, call a spade a spade. Not a spoon, not a piece of chocolate, not a tree. Let’s all stand up & stick our necks out to acknowledge how messed up this kind of IDEOLOGY,” Mohapatra wrote in her caption. The image accompanying her post contains statements that suggest her firm stance against what she perceives as problematic thinking or ideology being normalized. Mohapatro’s message clearly advocates for straightforward identification and criticism of harmful ideas rather than obscuring them with euphemisms or misrepresentation.

Her post also included a heartfelt message of solidarity and prayers for the families broken by violence and those who bear its burden. Importantly, Mohapatra made a clear distinction between violent ideologies and the larger Muslim community, stating that the ideology behind the attack “has nothing to do with the larger Muslim populace of the world,” a faith she personally respects and adores.

Beyond condemning terrorism, Mohapatra spoke out against the ongoing denial of basic rights to women in Afghanistan, highlighting how oppressive ideologies continue to restrict women’s freedoms in many parts of the world. Her statement called for collective responsibility to stand up against such injustices and to foster a society based on truth, equality, and respect.

Mohapatra’s message resonates as a call for unity and honest dialogue in confronting extremism and discrimination, urging people across India and beyond to reject divisive narratives and work together for a more just and peaceful future.
